Follow your bliss…

Hi! I’m Danni or in the social media world, LifeLoveTravelFood. IMG_20131126_140214 I discovered Amica when my lovely friend Em (or Stroudy to me) posted it on her Facebook wall. I read her wonderful story about being a carer for her Mum and the incredible journey she and her family were on. It really touched me and I was moved and inspired at how strong and positive they’ve remained during a very difficult, painful time. It was this, and the start of a new year that really hit home for me, made me stop and think, and forced me to put life into perspective. For the past four years, I have been incredibly lucky. I moved to London, got engaged to the love of my life in New York, married him in Australia, honeymooned in Greece, became an Aunty, got promoted at work and continue to travel the world. Yet as I’m sure everyone does, I was finding myself down at times and not appreciating what a fortunate, wonderful life I lead.

Then things shifted for me. After a wonderful trip home in November filled with family and friends, I read a book that got me thinking about how I could be leading and living a healthier, happier life. It might be a cliché but the book, in case you’re wondering, is Lorna Jane’s ‘More’. I’ve always been happy and never too worried about my health or weight but I wanted to see if a cleaner lifestyle would work for me. That’s a blog for another time but what I’m really here to say is this lifestyle change also changed my outlook on life.

Following so many inspiring people on instagram and reading blogs like Amica meant I really started to appreciate what I’ve got and how thankful I am for having it. When I look back on my life, do I want to remember that I was miserable at work, stressed, unhappy and wishing my days away? No! Life is a gift and WAY too short to let that happen so by changing my thinking and with a touch of yoga thrown in for good measure, I now make sure to live each day to the fullest. I make time for the things I love and don’t let others dictate how I should act or feel. Sure, I have my days where I’m not bright and happy but who doesn’t? Life is for living and loving what you do every day so that’s what 2014 is all about for me.

Words to live by, and a quote I just love – follow your bliss. PS. I’m over on lifelovetravelfood if you fancy dropping by or, you can find me on twitter or instagram (ok, I’m on instagram a LOT – some say it’s a bit of an obsession…)
