We needed a break.
Not just any sort of break, but the kind dedicated to pure rest, connecting to nature and massages.
Blissful Byron did not fail to deliver! It is officially my new favourite spot and I totally get why it is world famous. It is a perfect combination of sun, sea and trees. You can walk around barefoot with no makeup and feel at home. Or, be one of the ‘yuppie-hippies’ that dwell there. Anything goes and I dig that. It is like the chilled out and loving attitude of the locals and nature have rubbed off on each other. As one local said to my sister: “It is in the land. something about it sends good vibes and just makes you feel good”. And no, he wasn’t stoned when he said it. Rather walking his beloved pooch down Belongil Beach.
Stayed: Belongil Beach was our dream backyard at Absolute Moondarah . The waves crashed so loud we couldn’t hear each other in separate rooms. Sunrises were watched from the comfy beds, strolls and dips in the ocean were the daily norm, and for a few days we lived our fantasy life.
Hired: Because we arrived by plane, I didn’t want to have to take a porta cot and pram. I hired them from Byron Bay Holiday Hire and they were fantastic, providing great service and products (including a pram that went on the beach) for an affordable price.
Ate and drank: The Treehouse on Belongil became our local for all things tasty. Such a funky place with a totally chilled atmosphere. Do yourself a favour and order the sticky date pudding – the best I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten a lot in my time! The wood fired pizzas and the fresh pastas are mouthwatering good.
Pampered: Byron is full of massage options, from day spas, Thai outlets and mobile options that come to you! We tried a couple out and the winner was Byron Herbal Thai massage. Mico was our therapist and I can confidentially say it was one of the best massages of my life!! Mico uses an energy technique with elements of yoga (or something like that). It is amazing and affordable.
Byron, I miss you and can’t wait to visit again!
