Hello from your February Wordless Wednesday ‘self-love’ hostess!
So you might be wondering what on earth all those Wordless Wednesday posts meant this month. Well, if you’ve ever googled ‘self-love’ all you see is love hearts. Which is lovely, but gets a bit boring (despite the fact that two of my pics featured hearts). Until I was asked to write a blog for this month, self-love was not something I’d really given a lot of thought to. But now I know what it is (or what it means to me) when times get stressful or busy, situations get frustrating, I try to sit back, take a moment and re-center myself. Give myself a bit of me time. A bit of self-love. So here’s what that looks like to me.
Sunshiney yoga. I have ALWAYS loved sunshine (and four years in the UK made me love it even more) and yoga just makes me happy so combining the two makes total sense to me. I feel happy when I’m doing yoga and that’s what self-love is all about. Being happy and doing what YOU love.
This gorgeous image was taken by one of my total girl-crushes happyhealthyshine. I love that she found this tree stump purely by accident when out for a walk. I also love everything she stands for and this image (and her as a person) warms my heart.
Fresh fruits and vegetables. I am all about nourishing my body with good, wholesome foods. This type of food makes me feel REALLY good and feeling good equals complete self-love. Oh, and that gorgeous copper heart cookie cutter was a gift from my family for my birthday. It was too pretty not to include!
The beach. Living in Perth, I’m SO spoilt by the fact that we have stunning beaches just a few minutes’ drive from home. Just sitting there, watching the waves, feeling the sun on my skin (wearing 50+ I promise!) and the sand between my toes, this is when I feel SO blissed out. Self-love is all about doing what you love and what makes you feel good both inside and out. Oh, and a bit of a confession, this photo was actually taken in Cyprus but the beaches there were some of the most incredible beaches I’ve EVER come across and this was also a real turning point in my self-love journey (but that’s a blog for another time).
So there you have it. A wrap up of Wordless Wednesday and what self-love means to me. Has this month of love and all the wonderful articles from these amazing Amica writers made you more aware of what self-love means to you? I hope so – may your day, your month and your life be filled with love, happiness and sunshine.
Love Dan x
